We are pleased to announce that the winners of the FSI PhD thesis award 2021-2023 are Olli Dufva (Functional immunogenomics in hematological malignancies, University of Helsinki) and Iivo Hetemäki (Regulation of the germinal centre reaction in inborn errors of immunity, University of Helsinki). FSI congratulates the winners!
Dr. Norma Jäppinen, PhD and Dr. Paula Savola, MD, PhD were both individually awarded a €1,000 prize for the best doctoral dissertation (2019-2020) in the field of immunology by The Finnish Society for Immunology on Sept 9th 2021.
“This time the quality of theses submitted for evaluation was exceptionally high and, therefore, the Board of the Finnish Society for Immunology decided to grant two awards”, said Professor Riitta Lahesmaa, President of the Finnish Society for Immunology. “Warm congratulations Norma and Paula for your excellent achievements!”
The winners presented highlights of their work in the Immunotolerance Symposium: Dr. Norma Jäppinen on “PLVAP as the gatekeeper of endothelial cell permeability and leukocyte migration” and Dr. Paula Savola on “Somatic mutations in autoimmunity”.
The next call for the best doctoral dissertation (2021-22) will be announced in 2023.
